We dedicate our lives to helping Women, Girls aging out of State Services, Affected Youth & LGBTQIA+ flee Domestic Violence, Sexual Abuse, & Human Trafficking, and provide Case Management Services in Salt Lake City, as well as Social Advocacy & Mentoring for Vulnerable & Marginalized Communities across Utah.

Journey of Hope, Inc. Provides Trauma-Informed, Evidence Based, Gender-Responsive Models of Care, Providing Emergency Services and Direct Services which includes Case Management Services, Certified Peer Support Services, Social Advocacy, & Mentoring For Women, Girls, & LGBTQIA+ Individuals Who Are Fleeing Current Violence & Harm; Specifically, Domestic Violence, Harm, Abuse, Sexual Abuse, & Human Trafficking, As Well As Those At-Risk For Future Harm or Violence. We Also Assist Individuals Who Are Stuck In The Vicious Cycles of Recidivism, Homelessness, & Generational Poverty. We Assist Our Clients With Basic Needs Like Food, Clothing, & Housing Resources. Providing Case Management Services, Certified Peer Support Services, Friendship, Nurturing, & Mentoring For Women & Girls, As Well As Affected Youth, Disrupts The Pipeline of Being At-Risk For Future Violence & Harm And Stops Cycles of Recidivism, Violence, Trauma, & Harm.
Our Mission Is To Break The Cycles of Trauma That Result From Harm, Violence, & Abuse, And Teach the General Public, As Well As Our Community Partners, About Trauma-Informed, Evidence-Based, Gender-Responsive Models of Care, And The Devastating Effects That Trauma Can Have On Our Minds, Bodies, & Lives. After Initially Fleeing Violence, Abuse, & Harm, We Assist Our Clients In Finding A Safe Place To Live, Which Allows Them To Start Working Through & Processing Their Own Trauma To Create New Neural Responses & Build Healthy Habits, As Well As A Solid and Stable Foundation For Themselves & Their Families.
Our Overall Goal Is To Achieve 100% Self-Sufficiency, Plus Processing & Healing The Significant and Complex Trauma That Coincides With Continued Harm & Violence. Interrupting The Cycles and Patterns of the Sexual Abuse (Trauma) To Prison Pipeline is What Our Community Health Workers Specialize In, Providing Trauma-Informed, Evidence-Based, Gender-Responsive Models of Care, While Offering Nurturing, Support, As Well As Friendship, Allowing Our Clients To Learn How To Build Trust With Other Women. We Also Provide Therapeutic Resources & Referrals, Food Security, Emergency Clothing Security, Employment Case Management Services, As Well As Mentoring Services At The Utah State Correctional Facility, To Both Women & Men (Expanding To The Men's Side of The Utah State Correctional Facility Beginning in 2024) in Partnership With The Utah Department of Corrections.
Trauma Is LITERALLY Inflammation of The Brain & Neural Pathways That Affect The Traumatized Person By Creating Dopamine Responses At Higher Levels & Rates Than Those NOT Affected By Trauma. The Dopamine Response Is What Causes PTSD And/OR Complex PTSD AKA The "Fight, Flight, Fawn, & Freeze" Responses To Triggers of Trauma, AKA "Flashbacks". Complex PTSD Is One Of The Most Difficult Disorders To Heal, BUT We Have Watched THOUSANDS of Women & Girls Heal From & Overcome Trauma Since Our Opening In 2014.
Our Work Within The HOPE Prison Mentoring Program Has Helped Reduce Recidivism Rates In The Utah State Prison From 2014 to 2020, Disrupting The Sexual Abuse & Trauma To Prison Pipelines, Until The Pandemic Forced Us To "Hit Pause" On The Program. BUT We Are Now Re-Starting The HOPE Prison Mentoring Program, & We Are Currently Training NEW Volunteer Mentors! At Journey of Hope, Inc., Our Vision Is To Create A Community Where Evidence-Based, Trauma-Informed Approaches Are A Top Priority; Working Through & Processing Trauma is KEY to Healing The Wounds That Stem From Complex PTSD & Other Mental Health Disorders That Result From Abuse & Harm. We Assist Women & Girls With Case Management Services, To Access The Resources They Need To Have A Safe Place To Live, The Resources They Need To Address Trauma, & Achieve Optimal Healing & Wellbeing.

The KEY to healing generational poverty, racism, and misogyny is to educate ourselves & our loved ones on the TRUTHS of the harmful ways this Nation was founded upon, built upon, and currently operating upon. We must STOP enabling structural poverty, racism, and misogyny, which under-compensates Women in general, but even more so, Women of Color, at a lesser wage than their Male and/or white counterparts.
